Our Bull

Bull selection is an important part of our business plan. Each spring we study a large number of bull sales in search of a herd sire. All of our cows are genetic and DNA tested in accordance with recommended programs within each breed, this allows us to select a herd sire who will complement and enhance our females. Our bull is our future in both the replacement females and also in the production of our meat. We are fortunate to have the advice and guidance of Phil Trowbridge and have purchased bulls from the Trowbridge Farm Bull Sale. These herd sires have worked very well for us. Typically we will keep a bull for two seasons. By doing this we are able to evaluate his calf crop and at the same time be able to add new genetics to our cow herd. Through the use of artificial breeding (AI)a producer can upgrade each yearly calf crop. For the last two years, we have implemented a successful AI program using proven genetics from from prominent Registered Angus and American Aberdeen breeders.
